چکیده
In the preceding publication of this series (10), a simplified tissue culture assay was described. The cytotoxic activity of various nucleic acid antagonists, antibiotics, amino acid and vitamin antagonists, respiratory poisons, miscellaneous chemicals, solvents, heavy metals, detergents, and fermentation beers were determined with the new into sterile bottles and dissolved in water (sterile), dimethylformamide (nonsterile), or ethanol (nonsterile). Solvents were diluted in sterile water to a final concentration of less than 1000 gg/ml. For preliminary screening, test compounds were assayed at 500, 100, 20, 4, and 0.8 ~g/ml with one assay tube per concentration. Agents with an ID60

An Improved Tissue Culture Assay I. Methodology and Cytotoxicity of Anti-Tumor Agents*
A technic for the determination of cytotoxieity of chemical compounds for mammalian cells in vitro has been described by Eagle and Foley (~). Their assay requires 7 days for completion, with renewal of medium every other day. An application of the Eagle-Foley technic, in which the total assay time is 5 days with medium changes at 1 and 3 days, has been worked out with fermentation products (1~)...
متن کاملCytotoxicity and Genotoxicity Evaluation of Fluorapatite/bioactive Glass Nanocomposite Foams With Two Various Weight Ratios as Bone Tissue Scaffold: an in vitro study
The optimization of biomaterials’ biodegradation rate similar to tissue regeneration, is one of the main goals of tissue engineering. However, the necessity to assess their possible toxicity is always considered. The aim of this study was cytotoxicity and genotoxicity evaluation of fluorapatite/bioactive glass (FA/BG) nanocomposite foams with two various weight ratios to determine the optimal c...
متن کاملSecreted Chemicals From Probiotic Bacteria Potentiate Th1 Pattern of Immune Cells and Apoptosis Induction in Breast Cancer and Gastric Adenocarcinoma Cell Lines
Cancer is one of the main causes of mortality. Therapeutic importance in some diseases, especially cancers has led to considering the anti-cancer effects of probiotics more than ever. Probiotics have stimulatory effects on the immunity and suppressor effects on cancer activity. Various studies report that probiotic bacteria have cytotoxicity effects on different types of solid tumors. In this r...
متن کاملEffects of different culture media on optimization of primary neuronal cell culture for in vitro models assay
Background: In vitro model studies are becoming increasingly popular for experimental research designs. They include isolation and expansion of cells of a particular tissue, such as the nervous tissue which contributes to understanding the underlying mechanisms in many pathologies. It enables the scrutinization of intracellular signaling pathways responsible for cell death. OBJECTIVES: In the ...
متن کاملCurcumin coated gold nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, cytotoxicity, antioxidant activity and its comparison with citrate coated gold nanoparticles
Objective(s): Biological applications of gold nanoparticles have limitations because of the toxic chemicals used in their synthesis. Curcumin can be used as reducing as well as capping agent in synthesis of GNPs to eliminate the cytotoxicity. Conjugation of curcumin to gold also helps in increasing its solubility and bioavailability. Materials and Methods: Here we report synthesis of gold nanop...
